Potassium hydroxide, sometimes known as caustic potash, is an inorganic chemical. It is a solid foundation with great thermal stability and a low melting point. It is a hygroscopic chemical, which means that it absorbs air moisture and becomes sticky when exposed to it. When dissolved in water, it forms a transparent solution. In its solid state, it appears as white to slightly yellow flakes or pellets. It doesn’t have a distinct odour in its solid state.
